Founded in 1729, Lewis School Pengam is now a forward-looking, innovative school in which traditional values are allied to the best of modern teaching methods and educational practice. Our very modern new facilities were opened at Gilfach in 2002. Our facilities provide an excellent, high quality environment for pupils, staff and other users of the building. We take pride in the quality of friendly relationships within our school community. We are dedicated to working with all our young people so that they can make the most of their talents. Our pride in their varied achievements is prominently displayed in the school and frequently recognised in school assemblies. We work with a range of educational and training partners to provide teaching and learning to meet all needs. We review the needs and progress of each individual student at regular intervals throughout their time with us. Each term, parents receive a written report on how their child is doing. Pupils are encouraged to assess their own progress and develop methods of learning that are best suited to their own needs. One of our fundamental aims is to produce responsible students who posses the qualities which equip them for further study, employment and lifelong learning.
